The diminutive house sparrow (Passer domesticus) is perhaps one of the earliest birds you tried to capture with your new telezoom lens LOL. Anyway, being that today (20 March 2014) is World Sparrow Day, I grabbed the chance to post one of my Sparrow images.
Remember the Nikon D200? I shot this Sparrow with one combined with my manual focus Ais 500mm f/4P lens. Even though it had just stopped raining the glow of its chest was strong so out of instinct I had set a minus exposure compensation of 1/3 stop more because my copy of the D200 use to overexpose a bit under flat lighting! Also because he was close to my minimum focusing distance I closed down one stop to f/5.6 just to add a bit more DOF.
